HOUSE COMMITTEE ON STEEL VISITS ASCL, NIOMCO
The Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Steel of which Rep. Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro is the Deputy Chairman visited the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited ( ASCL) and National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO) on oversight function.
The committee met with the Sole Administrator of the Ajaokuta Steel Company who briefed the members on the ongoing talks with the Russian Government as regards the resuscitation of the company based on the build, operate and transfer agreement.
At the National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO), Itakpe, the committee also went round the facilities to see, at first hand, the state of infrastructure and where to come in to enhance capacity development and efficiency of the company.
Rep. Obanikoro reiterated that the ongoing resuscitation of the steel industry is in line with the economic diversification agenda of the Federal Government that is long over due for the country.
He expressed satisfaction on the progress made by the Federal Government of Nigeria in reviving the moribund steel industry, and also appreciated the efforts of the Minister of Steel and other stakeholders in ensuring the vision of Mr President in this industry is realized.
