PRESS RELEASE
Dear Lagosians, m
ost especially the good people of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, I bring to you the best wishes in this trying time of COVID-19 pandemic.
I am Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, I represent the good people of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber of Nationa
l Assembly.
Recall that the Corona Virus pandemic case was first recorded in Lagos on the 27th
of February, 2020. And since then, the number of cases keeps increasing nationwide.
According to the report of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as at 10.45pm of 28th March, there are 97 confirmed cases in the country; 3 discharged and 1 death. From these confirmed cases, Lagos alone has 59.
From the statistics available, most of the index cases that have been recorded in Lagos are residents of our dear Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
It is on this premise that I implore all residents of Eti-Osa and Lagosians in general to stay indoors and adhere strictly to the instructions and directives given by appropriate government agencies in containing COVID-19:
- Wash your hands regularly or use alcohol-based sanitizers
- Cover your mouth or nose with a tissue that will be disposed once used or bent elbow while sneezing or coughing
- Practise social distance of at least 1 meter from the next person
- Avoid gathering of more than 20 people
- Practise safe greetings: elbow shake, leg kicks, facial expresiion or the salute, and
- Maintain high standard of personal hygiene.
With these in mind, I am assured that we will win the fight against COVID-19 with us being responsible for ourselves and family.
I seize this opportunity to thank the Lagos State Governor and his deputy, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Mr Babafemi Hamzat and the entire staff of Lagos State Government for taking proactive measures in the containment of the spread of the Coronus Virus Disease thus far. Lagos has always shown incredible strength and resilience in the face of many challenges, as in the case of Ebola and the recent explosion at Amuwo-Odofin.
Let us do what is right to save our dear state and Nigeria at large from the outbreak of this virus.
Let us stay safe and take responsibility for our health.
Thank you and God bless!
